2 Months 27 Days

Our new life has been going smoothly. I started "working" about a month ago and have been able to do so without much complication. There is a lot of stop-and-start with a colicky newborn but that jives with what I do. The only time I really need two consecutive distraction-free hours is Sunday morning. Melissa has been covering that time with Eli - and lots of time, including every morning. She's been such a wonderful, steady, preternatural mother. I've felt pretty normal, balanced and happy the last six weeks.

Today Melissa went back to work. Most weeks she's going to work three days, plus some time at home. She's also working on a degree. So I'm looking at a hefty babytime raise along with a reduction in sleep.

Today went well. Eli was rather smiley, Bailey is still hanging around and the three of us pleasantly managed our way through the day. There was plenty of whining and poop clean-up, but plenty of fun too. Eli is really getting interactive; he's more of a person than a bundle now. Longterm I don't know how I'll hold up, but today was fine. That's kinda where I'm at now with everything in life - just pondering things one day at a time.
